Formlabs has launched a new biocompatible resin specifically designed for dental applications. The material is FDA 510(k) cleared for direct patient contact and can be used to produce crowns, bridges, surgical guides, and night guards.
The resin prints at 50-micron layer height on Formlabs' Form 3B+ printer and achieves a flexural strength of 120 MPa — comparable to traditional dental acrylic. Post-processing requires a standard wash and cure cycle.
This represents a significant step forward for chairside dental 3D printing, potentially reducing turnaround times from weeks to hours for many dental restorations.
