eSUN has launched a new carbon fiber reinforced nylon filament (PA-CF) aimed at makers who need engineering-grade mechanical properties without the premium price tag. At $39.99 per 500g spool, it's significantly cheaper than alternatives from MatterHackers or 3DXTECH.
The filament requires a hardened steel nozzle and an enclosed printer — standard for nylon-based materials. eSUN recommends a nozzle temperature of 260-280°C and a bed temperature of 80-100°C.
In tensile testing, the material shows a strength-to-weight ratio comparable to aluminum, making it suitable for functional prototypes, jigs, and fixtures. Available in black and dark gray.
