Cura 6.0 Released With Tree Support V2 and Lightning Infill

UltiMaker has released Cura 6.0, the biggest update to the open-source slicer in over a year. The headline features are Tree Support V2 — a completely rewritten support algorithm that uses 40% less material — and Lightning Infill, which only generates infill where the model actually needs structural support.

The UI has been redesigned from scratch with a modern dark theme, drag-and-drop model placement, and a new preview mode that shows exactly where supports will be placed before you slice.

Performance improvements are significant: slicing is up to 3x faster for complex models, and memory usage has been reduced by 50%. Cura 6.0 is available now at ultimaker.com.
