3D Printing Market to Hit $44 Billion by 2028, Report Finds

The global 3D printing market is projected to reach $44.5 billion by 2028, according to the latest Wohlers Report. That's up from an estimated $23.7 billion in 2025 — nearly doubling in three years.

The growth is driven by three trends: the shift from prototyping to end-use production, the expansion of metal additive manufacturing, and the increasing adoption of 3D printing in healthcare for surgical guides, implants, and dental appliances.

North America remains the largest market, but Asia-Pacific is growing fastest, led by China's investments in industrial additive manufacturing. The report also notes that desktop 3D printing — the segment most relevant to our readers — grew 31% year-over-year.
